Meet Your Instructors
Iliya Mirochnik
Expertise: Figure drawing and painting
Teaches at Ringling College of Art and Design
First place winner of the American Portrait Society’s 2013 International Portrait Competition.
Iliya Mirochnik, originally from Odesa, Ukraine, immigrated to the U.S. in the early '90s. He earned his MFA from Russia's Repin Institute and merges Russian aesthetics with American styles in his art. A winner of the American Portrait Society's International Portrait Competition and other awards, Mirochnik has exhibited internationally and worked on significant projects like a public monument in Miami. Since 2018, he's been teaching at Ringling College of Art and Design.
Bill Perkins
Expertise: Art direction, animation, drawing, and composition
Worked on films such as The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Academy Award-winning Aladdin
Worked for: Walt Disney Feature Animation, Warner Bros., DreamWorks, and Industrial Lights & Magic
Bill Perkins is a veteran artist with over three decades in animation and film, contributing to 42 productions including Disney's "Aladdin" and DreamWorks' "Shrek." He founded High Street Studio and has worked with top studios like Warner Bros. and Marvel, where he was the Executive of Visual Development. Perkins has also led Entertainment Art at the Art Center College of Design.
Rey Bustos
Expertise: Anatomy, drawing, and sculpture
Teaches at: Art Center College of Design, California State University, Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art, Disney Feature Animation
Rey Bustos, a 1989 Art Center College of Design honors graduate, is renowned for his expertise in artistic anatomy. Teaching since 1990, he instructs at institutions like Art Center College, Cal State, and Disney Animation. Bustos, known for figure drawing and anatomy, also developed the required course 'Imaginatomy' for character and animal anatomy at the Art Center.
